Finding Strength in God on Life’s Hardest Days
Some days feel heavier than others. As moms, wives, and women of faith, we all know what it’s like to face days when the weight of life feels too much to carry. Whether you’re battling exhaustion, mental health struggles, or just the overwhelming demands of life, those rough days remind us of our humanity, and the beauty of God’s grace.
It’s okay to have those days. The ones where you feel like staying in bed, crying out to God, or just quietly sitting in His presence because words escape you. The world often tells us to push through, stay productive, and put on a brave face, but God invites us into something different: to lean on His strength when ours is gone.
It’s Okay to Feel Weak
The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” When we feel weak, we’re reminded that we were never meant to do life on our own. Those rough days aren’t failures—they’re opportunities to draw closer to our Heavenly Father.
It’s okay to acknowledge when you’re not okay. In fact, being honest about your struggles—whether with your spouse, your kids, or even just with God—opens the door for healing and connection.
Showing Up Looks Different on Rough Days
Sometimes showing up means making the bed, pouring cereal, and praying a simple, “Lord, help me.” Other days, it means giving yourself permission to slow down, rest, or ask for help. You don’t have to have it all together to be a good mom, wife, or believer. God works through you even when you feel like you’re running on empty.
Leaning on God’s Strength
On the days when you feel like you can’t take another step, lean on the One who carries you. Psalm 46:1 reminds us, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Let His Word pour over you like a balm for your soul. Pray, even if it’s as simple as saying, “Jesus, I need You.”
Take comfort in knowing that His strength is limitless. He sees your tears, hears your prayers, and walks with you through every hard moment. Trust that even in your hardest days, He is working all things for good.
Practical Ways to Lean Into His Strength
1. Pray Honestly – Pour out your heart to God. He can handle your fears, frustrations, and pain.
2. Speak Scripture Over Yourself – Verses like Isaiah 41:10 (“Do not fear, for I am with you”) remind us of God’s promises.
3. Accept Grace – Give yourself permission to rest, to not do it all, and to lean on others when needed.
4. Reflect on Past Victories – Remember the times God has carried you through before and trust that He’ll do it again.
A Reminder for the Rough Days
You are not alone in your struggles. It’s okay to rest in God’s arms and let Him carry you. You are loved, seen, and enough, even on the hardest days.
Take it one step, one prayer, one moment at a time. And know that God’s strength will always meet you right where you are.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and compassion that meet us right where we are. On the days when our hearts feel heavy and we’re running on empty, remind us that You are our refuge and strength. Help us to surrender our burdens to You and to rest in the peace that only You can give.
Lord, fill our hearts with Your grace and remind us that we don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. Let Your presence renew our spirits, and may Your love guide us as we care for our families and ourselves. Thank You for walking with us, even on the hardest days.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
